FCS JEREMIAH N. KARANJA, MBS
A governance
professional and Christian thought leader, FCS Karanja serves as the Chief
Executive Officer of the Institute of Certified Secretaries (ICS) and a Board
Member in a State Corporation. He is a Certified Secretary, Lawyer, Accredited
Governance Auditor, Trainer of Trainers, Human Resource Professional and Fellow
of ICS. He has provided governance advisory and training services across the
public, private, and civil society sectors.
He has spearheaded the
transformation of ICS through institutional growth, financial turnaround,
digital modernization, and increased national visibility. He led the
establishment of the Governance and Ethics Hub.
He has authored several books including Corporate Governance and Ethics (2019), Public Governance, Administration and Policy (2020), Navigating Home Guards Syndrome (2025), Church Governance and Leadership (2025), and The Animal Firm International Ltd (2025).
FCS Karanja has contributed to the formulation of key governance frameworks including Mwongozo Code of Governance for State Corporations, Code of Governance for Private Organisations in Kenya, Governance Guidelines for Churches, Code of Governance for the Tea Sector and KASNEB curriculum for professional courses.
He holds a BA
(Communication, Public Administration & Political Science), LLB, and MBA
(Strategic Management) from the University of Nairobi, and is pursuing a PhD in
Leadership and Governance at JKUAT. His commitment to ethical leadership is
anchored in Christian faith, servant leadership, and public stewardship.
He was awarded the
Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (M.B.S.) by the Head of State in 2023.
