Under his guidance, the Institute has made significant strides in advancing the governance and corporate secretarial profession in Kenya.

Besides his position at ICS, FCS Karanja also holds a seat on the Registration of Certified Public Secretaries Board, where he leverages his governance expertise within the public sector. As a committed governance professional and active member of ICS, he plays a vital role in driving the profession forward.

He has also played a pivotal role in the development of governance codes and guidelines for various organizations, including state corporations, private companies, and churches. Additionally, he serves as an editor for "The Governance Journal," a peer-reviewed professional and academic journal by ICS, as well as "The Governance Practitioner," also published by ICS, a professional magazine for practitioners in the field of governance. He has contributed input as a co-author and led the team in spearheading publications by ICS, including the governance auditor's manual, Meetings, Writing, and Records Management Manual, 360 Degrees Board Development Manual, Governance, Ethics, Risk, and Compliance Manual, The History of the Certified Secretaries Profession, and The State of CS Profession in Kenya, among others.
